[DRAFT] Situation update, #7 Upgrade to Flood Warning

BANFF, AB - at 12 p.m. A Flood Warning has been issued for the Bow River at the Town of Banff and the Town of Canmore. This river basin received 250 mm of precipitation since Wednesday morning and river level is rising in response to heavy precipitation.

High water levels are being experienced in low lying areas. The Town of Banff is sandbagging essential Town infrastructure.

Bow Ave and Birch Ave are closed to all traffic. Bow Falls Road is closed. All river trails closed. All residents and visitors cautioned to keep away from the river.

Rocky Mountain Cooperative Housing 2 at 100 Birch Street has been evacuated. A reception centre has been set up at Banff High School. Displaced residents are asked to register before finding alternative accommodation.

Please obey local authorities and stay away from the river.

The Bow River vehicle bridge is open. Highway status has not changed. We will issue an update on or before 3 p.m.
