Road Paving Around Town, Beginning May 8

Each spring, the Town of Banff repaves roads around town, removing the top layer of asphalt and then repaving to create a smooth driving surface.

This year, work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 8 (weather depending) taking place between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m., for approximately 3 to 4 weeks.

All four lanes of Banff Ave will be re-paved in the section noted below, but a driving lane will be maintained throughout work so there won’t be a full road closure. However, expect some minor delays during this work.

The following roads will also receive a new layer of asphalt.
See map for details (PDF)
  • Banff Avenue outbound lanes to Wolf Street
  • Banff Avenue inbound lanes to Elk Street
  • Rabbit Street from Banff Ave to Marten Street
  • Park Avenue
  • The entrance section of Nahanni Drive closest to Mountain Avenue
  • 400 block of Muskrat Street
  • Marmot Street
  • Deer Lane between Antelope and Fox Streets (this work will occur separately in mid to late June)
Because this work is weather dependent, specific dates/times cannot be confirmed.

During the repaving process:
  • Crews will remove barricades when it is safe to use the street again
  • Expect minor delays
  • Please do not approach work sites or attempt to cross newly paved streets. New pavement is extremely hot and heavy machines are difficult to stop
  • 'No Parking' signs will be put up prior to the work beginning
