Banff offers many choices for the film buff.Movies
In Banff, mainstream film opportunities are available year-round at the Lux Cinema situated on the corner of Bear and Wolf Streets. The Lux offers four screens showing the latest movies from Hollywood. It is part of the Landmark Cinema group.Reel Time Series
The Reel Time film series provides access to alternative cinema in the Bow Valley. Presented by the Walter Phillips Gallery and Film Circuit, an initiative of the Toronto International Film Festival Group, Reel Time raises funds to benefit the WPG and local non-profit organizations. Reel Time films are screened at the Lux Cinema on the first Monday of every month, between October and May of each year.Banff Mountain Film Festival
The Banff Mountain Film Festival takes place the first weekend of November each year at The Banff Centre. It brings the world’s best mountain films and personalities to Banff each year. From more than 300 films
entered into competition, the top 50 or so are screened during the three-day event, which is part of the Banff Mountain Festivals. During the day, free noon-hour seminars tackle current mountain issues, and the festival adventure trade show puts the latest outdoor equipment, clothing, and adventure travel at your fingertips.
