October 27 - November 4, 2012 The Banff Centre
The Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival is the premier event of its kind in the world. Created in 1976, the festival showcases the world’s best mountain films, books and photographs featuring renowned first ascents, groundbreaking expeditions, legendary adventures and remote cultures. Come celebrate the achievements of passionate pioneers and cutting edge adventurers up close. Share their exhilaration and pain as they take the spotlight to recount their inspiring stories of courage and tenacity. Come together to celebrate the spirit of adventure in one of the world’s great mountain towns.
The top 60 to 70 films are selected from more than 300 entries annually. An international jury awards prizes for the best films in the categories of climbing, sport, environment, culture, short, feature-length and more.
Missed the festival. The World Tour is now on the road and coming to a theatre near you. Find out more.
The Town of Banff is pleased to support the festival, and present the award for Best Feature Length film.
