Canada Day Parade Canada Day in Banff
The Town of Banff is the perfect place to celebrate Canada's birthday on July 1. Fantastic family-friendly events run throughout the day, including our famous parade down Banff Avenue. The full-day celebrations are capped off with a spectacular evening fireworks display.

Central Park

 TIME EVENT
 10 a.m. Banff Artisan and Farmers Market opens
 1 p.m. Local rock band The Swillbillies - a Banff Canada Day staple - performs
 1:30 p.m. Dance along with the Verkhovyna Ukrainian Dancers - if you can keep up
 1:50 p.m. Local singer/songwriter Brad Brewer showcases his Canadian fold rock sound
 2:30 p.m. The Calgary Fiddlers are amazing - don't miss this great performance
 3 p.m. Dance For Joy Studios hits the stage with local dancers
 3:20 p.m. Banff National Park's singin', strummin' warden-ing storytellers, The Wardens
 4:15 p.m. Singer/Songwriter Amelie Patterson, Banff's Poet Laureate
 5:10 p.m. You should be rested by now. Second performance by the Verkhovyna Ukrainian Dancers
 5:30 p.m. A Banfftastic Canada 150 show from Parks Canada's Mountain WIT
 7:30 p.m. Evening show starts with Elk Run & Riot, then it's Midnight Taiko and to wrap things up, The Steadies
 11 p.m.  Fireworks 

High School Field
 TIME EVENT
 9-11 a.m. Pancake Breakfast presented by the Town of Banff, Banff Lodging Company, and Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. $2. Proceeds go to the Bow Valley Food Alliance.
Bring reusable plates, cutlery & mugs for a chance to win door prizes. Visit the Green Team at the Zero Waste Booth to enter.
 12:30 - 6:30 p.m. Play old-fashioned games with Isabelle The Wonderful and jump on the bouncy castles
 1 p.m. The Steve Harmer Magic Show offers more tricks than a Harry Potter movie.
 2 p.m. Educational and entertaining performance from the Blackfoot Medicine Speaks dance company
 3 p.m. Isabelle the Wonderful 
 4 p.m. A Banfftastic Canada 150 show from Parks Canada’s Mountain WIT. Catch their second show in Central Park at 5:30 p.m.
 6 p.m. He’s back. Steve Harmer Magic Show
 6:30 p.m. Venue closed

Canada Day2017 Road Closures
  • Banff Avenue will be closed from 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. from Fox Street to Buffalo Street on July 1 for the Canada Day parade.
  • The Norquay highway entrance to town will be closed to inbound traffic from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Banff Avenue highway entrance will remain open and a detour will be implemented down Muskrat Street for vehicles to access the bridge.
  • Certain roads in town will be limited to local traffic only from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and parking on Cougar Street, Fox Street and Elk Street will be limited to allow for parade staging. Please see Road Closure Map (PDF) for details.
  • Use the Traffic Dashboard to find parking, see travel times and traffic cameras in town. Take Roam Public Transit to get around, walk or bike downtown.
  • Take On-It Transit to Banff from Calgary on Canada Day for only $10.
