Volunteer Information

Be a Canada Day Volunteer!

The Town of Banff is looking for energetic volunteers to make our event a success.  It's a great way to build your volunteer experience, get involved in your community, meet new people, and show your Canadian pride.  Over 100 volunteers are needed for positions in the following areas:

• Information Kiosk
• Site Set-up and Tear Down
• Line Monitors
• Toward 0 Waste Team
• Traffic Control – Central Park
• Parade Volunteers – Route Walkers and Traffic Control

Volunteers will participate in an orientation (TBA) and will receive a free volunteer Canada Day t-shirt and hat.  Without volunteers, our Canada Day birthday bash would not be a reality.

We encourage all volunteers to wear sunscreen, hats and sunglasses!  Please remember to bring a re-usable water bottle.

As a member of the planning team you will:

• get to meet new and interesting people
• enhance your special event planning skills
• play a part in promoting community spirit
• add a new highlight to your resume
• receive tangible recognition

Time Commitment

The time commitment depends greatly on the planning area.

Anticipate 2 - 5 hours per month in committee meetings plus additional time to complete the tasks identified in meetings.

The committee begins meeting in March.  June is the busiest time for most areas with increased demands leading up to the event. Of course, although it is not necessary, we would like you to also be on site on July 1 to see the plans come to fruition.
