Mountain Madness Relay

Most teams enter for the sheer fun of it (rather than the half-day off work) at the annual Mountain Madness Relay Race

Teams of five athletes, mostly local entries, take part in the race. The teams strive to out-do each other in coming up with wacky team names, themes and costumes. Some of them also try to go fast.

Mountain Madness race is January 27, 2012 and the entry deadline is January 13, 2012. Registration forms are available for download below; or you can pick up an entry form and return it to Community Services, Banff Town Hall.

The multi-sport relay starts with a downhill ski leg from the top of Ski Norquay, and works its way down to the Bow River and Central Park via run, ice skate, classic cross-country ski and skate ski segments.

Much of the action takes place on the frozen Bow River, where friends and fans cheer on the athletes of all ages and skill levels.

Participants should pick-up their competitor packs and race bibs from 8 - 10 a.m. on race day, January 27, at Melissa's Restaurant (218 Lynx Street). 

The Mountain Madness relay race starts with the downhill skier leaving Norquay at 1 p.m. and  the second leg of the race starts at 2 p.m. at the Juniper parking lot.  Race competitors are invited to the awards event at the Banff Legion starting at 3 p.m.
