Brian Skrine
Banff Sports Hall of Fame - 2005: Builder
A native of Banff since 1955, Brian spent over 30 years rising to prominence in the world of Alpine Ski officiating. Described as wanting to “learn everything he could to find out what it takes to help young ski racers be the best that they could be”, Brian started his journey coaching the Banff Ski Runners. He learned and studied the craft of officiating, rising to become an International Ski Federation technical delegate at the Calgary and Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games and the Chief of Race at many World Cup races all over the globe. He also took an active role in contributing to the development of Disabled Skiing in Canada, earning the Karl Hilzinger award for these contributions. In 1998 Brian received an ‘Honorary Diploma’ from the International Ski Federation “in recognition of outstanding services to the sport of Alpine Skiing worldwide.” Brian Skrine is a proud example of tireless work, selfless giving and international success.
