John (Jack) MacAulay
Banff Sports Hall of Fame - 2005: Builder
Jack was one of the chief architects behind the success of Banff Minor Hockey that many children and families enjoy today. From 1939 -1985, for an incredible 46 years, Jack coached some level of minor hockey in Banff. He was the President of the Banff Figure Skating club from 1970 -74, the Chairman of the Banff Recreation Board from 1970 -1976 and the Chair of the Alberta Winter Games Committee in 1976. Jack was also awarded the prestigious 1965 Rotary Sportsman of the Year Award. A long time owner and operator of Mac’s Sports Store in Banff, Jack was a kind and generous soul who helped many Banff families who needed a little bit of help in getting equipped. A better and kinder man most people will never meet, and we are proud that Jack was a native son, building a legacy in sport and in life that continues to this day.
