GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) Tours
With modern advances in technology, more tourists are interested in using GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) tours. These are self-drive travel tours that use mobile GPS technology that installs easily inside your vehicle. The GPS system identifies your location as you drive around Banff and Banff National Park, and presents geographical, historical and cultural information through your vehicle's audio system as you pass through areas of special interest. You set the pace of the tour to meet your own needs and desires.GPS tours also serve as portable directories containing information about hotels, restaurants, and other sites of interest.
Banff, Banff National Park and area GPS tours are available from:
- GPS Tour Guide, offering the GyPSy system, with a variety of routes including the Rocky Mountains, Banff, Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria, and the routes connecting them
- Friends of Banff National Park, which rents a Sawka Tour Guide (STG) GPS system
