Municipal Historic Resource Designation Program
The Historical Resources Act empowers the Town of Banff to formally recognize and legally protect heritage resources of local significance through designation as Municipal Historic Resources. The designation, in the form of a bylaw, is issued and maintained by the Banff Town Council.
Designation as a Municipal Historic Resource ensures long-term legal protection of locally significant heritage resources. Owners of ‘A’, ‘B’, or ‘C’ ranked resources are encouraged to apply for designation of their buildings, structures, or sites.
