Thr!ve on Wellness
Thr!ve on Wellness is a joint initiative from Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Cancer Foundation. The goal is to support communities to promote active living and healthy eating in an effort to reduce cancer and chronic disease in Alberta. More details are available at Banff and Canmore Workshops.Program Components
- Workshop to identify community needs and priorities and develop actions plans to implement initiatives
- Access to Alberta Health Services Nutrition, Kinesiology and Community Development resources
- Access to examples of active living and healthy eating programs used in other communities
- Grant funding to support implementation of initiatives (total grant funding to a maximum of $20,000 with $10,000 available in Year 1 and $10,000 in Year 2)
- Support from Alberta Health Services & Alberta Cancer Foundation to recognize community achievements
What do communities need to do to get involved?
Step 1A community leader completes an Expression of Interest which confirms interest in working with Alberta Health Services to explore the potential of this initiative in community
Step 2
Community identifies key stakeholders to invite to workshop to identify and prioritize initiatives that promote healthy eating and active living in the community
Step 3
Community applies for grant funding to support implementation of initiatives identified in workshop in Step 2
Step 4
Alberta Health Services provides grant funding and community implements initiatives
Step 5
Community and Alberta Health Services develop a plan to evaluate initiatives
