We wish to be an environmental role model for communities around the world.

The Environmental Stewardship Policy is a cornerstone of Banff's efforts.

1. We will meet or surpass all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
2. We will continually improve environmental performance.
   
3. We will ensure environmental protection is considered in all decision-making.
   
4. We will strive to maintain and enhance a community culture that respects and reflects the environment.
5. We will involve all residents and stakeholders in promoting a sustainable community.

• energy efficiency
• organics, composting, and bio-solids
• municipal sustainable building policy
