Commercial Rebates and Incentives
The Town of Banff is currently offering rebates and incentives to Banff businesses, for initiatives that improve the environmental efficiency of Banff's commercial properties in the following areas:
Building Energy Use Reduction
The Town of Banff recently approved funding for another environmental incentive for commercial businesses. The Town's commercial program now includes a rebate to help cover a portion of the costs of 'Pre-project Energy Audits', as defined in the Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE) ecoENERGY Retrofit for Buildings Application Guide. Qualifying businesses are eligible to receive a rebate for 1/3 of the costs of such audits. The potential energy savings identified through the audit are eligible for further funding-assistance from the Government of Canada. To determine more about the OEE program and eligible criteria (Step #2 of the application), please visit the
EcoENERGY Retrofit for Buildings
website.
There are also several innovative technologies available today that can help you reduce the amount of energy used at your commercial property/business or assess the existing energy-efficiency issues of the property in order to plan for future upgrades. The Town of Banff is encouraging everyone to take advantage of these practices so as to contribute to an overall lowering of your electrical and gas bills each year, a reduction of the amount of energy used in Banff, and a reduction of the volume of greenhouse gases emitted into the environment directly or indirectly by our community.
Tools and informational guides now available that can help you incorporate new approaches to making your residence more energy-efficient include:
The Energy Innovators Initiative: Hospitality Sector, Saving Energy Dollars in Hotels, Motels, and Restaurants - Free Guide
Doing Business in a New Climate: A Guide to Measuring, Reducing, and Offsetting Greenhouse Gas Emissions - Free Guide
Green Your Business: Toolkit for Tourism Operators - Free Guide
Water Use Reduction
Several approaches can help you easily reduce the amount of water being used at your commercial property or business. These practices will contribute to an overall lowering of the cost of your utility bills each year, a reduction of the amount of water being drawn from local ground water sources, and a reduction of the volume of water treated at Banff's Waste Water Treatment Plant which is eventually discharged into the Bow River environment.
Rebates and incentives are now available (up to a $5000 maximum per property) that can contribute to water use reductions include:
Dual-flush Toilet Replacement
- $100 post-purchase rebate
How to apply for rebates, incentives, and information
Rebates are issued on a first-come, first-served basis up to $50,000. All eligible applicants must complete the
Commercial Environmental Rebate Program
(
PDF - 83 kb)
application.
Visit Town Hall, or call 403.762.1215 to find more information about how to qualify, apply, and take advantage of the limited time offers discussed above.
What new rebates and incentives will be available?
The Town of Banff is continually working hard to identify new ways to help make the community more environmentally-efficient whether it be by encouraging the incorporation of new building technologies or providing information about how everyone can make more efficient use of what they already have.
Please check back regularly to obtain more information on newly available rebates or incentive programs that you may be eligible to receive.
