Off-Leash Dog Park
Why An Off-leash Dog Park?
- None exists here at this time. Council asked staff to explore potential sites.
- Dogs loose unlawfully on national park or town property have interfered with wildlife and citizens.
- Dog owners have asked for a designated secure area since 2003 to exercise their pets safely and responsibly.

Where We Are
Based on feedback obtained through a survey, and needs, Council approved the Hawk Avenue location for a fenced, off-leash dog park at the November 28, 2011 council meeting. Staff are preparing the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) submission and working with Parks Canada on the park's final size and exact location. As with all development in Banff, final approval will rest with Parks Canada.
