Banff National Park Legacy Trail

This paved multi-use trail, completed in 2010 to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the establishment of Banff National Park, allows users to travel between Canmore and Banff without having to use the Trans-Canada Highway.
A segment of the Trans Canada Trail, the Legacy Trail runs along the highway right-of-way and is especially popular with cyclists and in-line skaters.
Where the Legacy Trail enters Banff at the north end of Banff Ave, you can follow pavement bike markings and signage in two different directions through town: one route connects to Vermilion Lakes Drive, from which a paved trail extension leads to the Bow Valley Parkway; another route extends the Trans Canada Trail through town to the Spray Trailhead.
