Volunteer Driver Program
The FCSS departments of the Towns of Banff and Canmore and the Community Services Department of the M. D. of Bighorn are launching the Bow Valley Volunteer Driver Program. On a cost-recovery basis, the Volunteer Driver Program will provide transportation for seniors and persons with disabilities to medical appointments in Calgary, Canmore and Banff. Others requiring rides for medical purposes will be accommodated as resources allow.Potential driving volunteers require a vehicle in excellent operating condition, a valid driving license, a reasonable sense of direction in Calgary traffic, and with that, probably a good sense of humour!
Volunteer applicants will be interviewed, have a police records screening and provide a current motor vehicle driving abstract. Benefits to volunteering with this program will be First Aid/ CPR training, meeting wonderful new people, and providing a much needed service to your community.
Does this sound interesting to you? For more information, please contact: In the MD of Bighorn, please call Emily at 403.673.3611, in Canmore contact Mavis at 403.678.7129 and in Banff, contact Sue at 403.762.1253.
