Conserve Water
Top Tips
- Landscape with native plants, trees, and shrubs that require little water.
- See our Landscaping Recommendations for great ideas.
- Water lawns only when necessary, and in the early morning to prevent evaporation.
- Replace your toilets with dual flow models.
- Replace your faucets and shower heads with low flow models.
- Low flow models are required for all new residential construction in Banff. Contact planning & development at 403.762.1215 for more information.
- Test for leaks in all of your fixtures, and repair them right away.
- How to test for toilet leaks.
- Only run dishwashers and washing machines (preferably frontloading / 'suds-savers') when you have a full load.
- Wash your vegetables and toothbrush in partially filled sinks instead allowing the tap to run continuously.
- Chill drinking water in the refrigerator instead of running the tap.
- Consider waterless urinals, greywater recycling, rainwater collection, and whether you really need to flush the toilet.
Report Water WasteA sprinkler left running in the rain, a garden hose left running in the gutter - we've all seen water wastage. If you see a situation that concerns you, call Bylaw Services at 403.762.1218 or send an Action Request. |
