The Town offers many options for avoiding unsightly messes like this one.

The Town provides animal-proof bins in every Banff neighbourhood.  Please deposit all your household garbage inside the bins. No items may be left beside the bins. 

Common Problems & Solutions

1. I have a large item that won't fit inside the bin.
2. I want to throw out some paint or other hazardous item.
3. I want to throw out electronic equipment.
4. I want to throw out grass or tree clippings.
5. I need to get rid of renovation or construction waste.

I want to throw out some paint or other hazardous item.

You can drop paint off at our operations compound at 120 Hawk Avenue during regular working hours.  Or, you can store your paint and other hazardous items and bring them to our annual Recycling Round-Up.

Electronic equipment can be recycled.  Please bring unwanted electronic equipment to our operations compound at 120 Hawk Avenue during regular working hours.  We also accept electronic equipment at our annual Recycling Round-Up.

I want to throw out grass or tree clippings.

The Town of Banff accepts leaf, grass and tree clippings at the Town's operation compound at 120 Hawk Avenue. Loose items cannot be left. Call 403-762-1240 for more information.

I need to get rid of renovation or construction waste.

The Town doesn’t accept renovation or construction waste.  You need to take this type of waste directly to the Francis Cook Landfill near Exshaw.  Call 403.673.2708 for more information.

I've got an item I don't know how to get rid of.

I'd like to compost.

It’s illegal to have an outdoor compost in Banff.  The good news is – the Town will do your composting for you.  Just drop your compostable items in one of our neighbourhood organics bins.

I'd rather use my garburator for food waste.

Go ahead!  Material from your garburator does straight to our Wastewater Treatment Plant, where it’s turned into useful compost.
