Street Use Permits

A street use permit is issued to accommodate construction projects on public spaces, road closures, utility excavations, hoarding, and temporary parking requests on all public spaces.

This may include:

• road, lane, boulevard or sidewalk closures
• placement or parking of any building materials, tools or machinery
• parking of any vehicle for longer than the posted limit
• loading or unloading material, machinery, or equipment
• construction or excavation on a public space

How do I obtain an application?

Copies of the permit application can be picked up at Town Hall, Second Floor or downloaded here. Return applications by dropping them off at Town Hall, Second Floor or faxing them to 403.762.1260. Once you have filled out and returned the application for the permit, it will then be reviewed by the Engineering Department and returned with comments or additional requirements.

What do I need to submit with the permit application?

• complete all information requested on the application, including date, time and duration of the closure or occupancy of the space
• contact information including a site contact and phone number
• a site map showing the area proposed to be used, pedestrian and vehicle controls and detour information

Please allow a minimum of two business days for the application review. If a complete road closure is required, if regulatory signage is to be moved, removed or modified by ToB employees or if notification of adjacent properties is required, please allow 14 work days for application review. The applicant will be responsible for providing any detour or temporary traffic control signage, or flagpersons required. Securing the area or parking stalls will also be the responsibility of the applicant.
