High Streamflow Advisory for Banff has ended

As of Thursday June 14, 2007, Alberta Environment has ended the High Streamflow Advisory for the Bow River at Banff and upstream of Banff. The Bow River's water levels have peaked and are falling back toward normal levels.

Gas Service Interruption in Banff's downtown core

On Monday June 11, 2007, contractor Standard General hit an old, capped service connection for a gas line while excavating near Earl's Restaurant on the 200 block of Banff Avenue. As a result, gas service in the downtown core was disrupted for several hours. Atco Gas made repairs and restored service by midnight.

Flood Watch downgraded to High Streamflow Advisory

On Sunday, June 10 2007, Alberta Environment has downgraded the previously declared Flood Watch to a High Streamflow Advisory, as cooler temperatures over the past several days have allowed water levels on the Bow River at Banff to recede.

Risk of flooding is reduced at Banff, as cooler weather continues

On Friday, June 8 2007, Alberta Environment advises that the cooler temperatures over the past couple of days have reduced the snowmelt, and water levels are slowly falling on the Bow River at the Town of Banff. Water levels remain high, and a possibility of flooding exists for low-lying areas along the Bow River upstream of Banff, as well as along the paths within the townsite.

Alberta Environment updates Flood Watch for Town of Banff

On Tuesday, June 5 2007, Alberta Environment has updated its Flood Watch notice for Banff. The Bow River flow is at the capacity of the Banff riverbanks, and significant increases in water levels will occur if the forecasted precipitation for central and southern Alberta materializes over the next 48 hours. Areas of Banff that are at risk of flooding include Birch Avenue (south side of the River near the Luxton Museum), Bow Avenue, and the Bow River trail system. Please use extreme caution near riverbanks along the Bow River.

Parks Canada Bulletin: High Flood Waters in Banff National Park

As of June 5 2007,  Parks Canada advises that warm weather and rains are causing higher than normal water levels in the rivers and streams of Banff National Park. Public are warned to use extra caution near streams and riverbanks at this time, and are strongly advised not to participate in activites on the water.
