2007 Municipal Census Results
Town of Banff 2007 Census Results
The Town of Banff's latest municipal census was carried out during June 2007, and the results were presented to Town Council at the August 20, 2007 Council meeting.Over 8,000 of Banff's residents welcomed census enumerators into their homes. The new statistics based on the information gathered will be used to assist Town Council and administration in making informed decisions on future community programs and policies.

The goal of the census was to discover how the Banff community has grown and changed in the areas of population, housing, employment, transportation and recycling.
Highlights of the census include:
- population of 8,721 (4% increase since 2005)
- 7,437 permanent residents (6% increase since 2005)
- 1,284 non-permanent residents (20% increase since 2005)
- 3,623 housing dwellings were recorded (3.5% decrease since 2005)
- 20 to 24 year olds who work in the service industry are the largest employment and age sectors
- walking is the most popular mode of transportation for the majority of Banff's population, and cycling increased by 45% compared to 2005
- More convenient recycling was the most requested service.
