Banff to celebrate best Canada Day yet
Banff,
AB – The Banff Special Events Corporation and the Town of Banff have been working together to make this year's Canada Day celebrations the best yet. Thanks to the festivities surrounding Banff refreshing, the July 1 long weekend will have even more events scheduled for 2007. Special considerations are being made around the parade route to accommodate the Banff refreshing zone on the 100 and 200 blocks of Banff Avenue. This year, Banff will host a pancake breakfast, an opening ceremony and birthday cake in Central Park, live outdoor performances, the popular Canada Day Parade and the fireworks extravaganza. In addition, there will be roving street entertainment and lots of interactive fun for residents and visitors thanks to the festive theming in place to support Banff refreshing.
"The Town is spending $1 million dollars to enhance the visitor experience. We are excited about what Banff has to offer July 1 and all summer," says Robert Earl, Town Manager.
To accommodate the Banff refreshing zone, the parade route will be adjusted to flow down Banff Avenue, but will stage farther North (Marmot Crescent area), and turn and finish at Elk Street. The Canada Day parade will start at 5 p.m. ending approximately 45 minutes later. This year's parade is appropriately themed: ‘Refreshing’.
Banff Special Events Manager, Tara Rowe commented, "Canada Day is a cornerstone event in the Banff-Lake Louise calendar; it's a major attraction for both residents and visitors. Banff refreshing introduced new challenges in the event planning process – but we are all working together to make this one of the best events of summer."
The Banff Canada Day committee is looking for vibrant community 'doers' to be involved in this year's celebrations, join us and make a difference!
