Draw for commercial use development allotment April 13

Banff, AB – The 2007 Commercial Growth Management Allocation Random Selection Draw is scheduled for April 13, 2007. The draw will be conducted at the offices of the Town of Banff auditors, Chengkalath Van Eyck Chartered Accountants. 

Since the last draw in Nov. 2004, a total of 961.4m2 (10,348 ft2) of commercial floor area has returned to the Town of Banff and will be reallocated in the 2007 draw. In accordance with the Land Use Bylaw, those applications that received a partial allocation in previous draws shall be given priority in determining the order in which allotment requests are considered.  As such, five partial applications will be included in the draw – three in the medium category and two in the large category – requesting a total of 2210.8 m2 (23,797 ft2).

Of the total floor area available, 320.1 m2 (3,445 ft2) is available in the medium category (projects greater than 46 m2 and less than 465 m2) and 641.3 m2 (6,903 ft2) is available in the large category (projects greater than 465 m2). Demand exceeds supply in both categories, so a random selection draw will be held.

“The total floor area available in the draw this year is significantly less than previous draws,” says Town of Banff Senior Planner, Troy Pollock.

“The Land Use Bylaw gives priority consideration to those applications that received a partial allocation in previous draws so that those projects have an opportunity to be developed to their full potential.”

Results of the random selection draw will be published at www.banff.ca following the draw.
