FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
First of its kind website puts all Banff information in one place
Banff, AB – Wednesday January 17, the Town of Banff and its partners will unveil a new and improved www.banff.ca that puts all Banff information in one place.
"Our new Banff.ca website is unique among municipal government websites," says Mayor of Banff, John Stutz. "We believe we're the first municipally-based website to put comprehensive information for travelers as well as the local community together on a single authoritative site."
"Our research has shown that both tourists and locals are visiting banff.ca for information they can trust," says Town of Banff manager of marketing and communications, Michelle Gurney. "We heard loud and clear that users want to find all Banff information in one place. They also want the site to feel more like Banff."
New features on the site include:
- The most accurate weather link available for Banff (right off the home page)
- Tourism information for every season (where to eat, shop and stay) and overviews of the events and activities that make Banff unique
- Complete hiking trail guides courtesy of Summerthought Publishing
- Gorgeous photographs that will change with the seasons
- A job board for those looking to work in Banff
- Top 10 lists including, the top 10 things locals do in winter and summer
- A media section for journalists
To encourage new users to explore the site, the Search is On contest will run until Jan. 31, 2007. This easy, five-question contest will take users through the site on a hunt for a variety of Banff icons. Prize offerings include an iPod shuffle, a vacation package courtesy of The Fairmont Banff Springs, a town bike, Canadian Rockies Trail Guides and skating passes for Banff Ice.
The partners (Town of Banff, Banff Heritage Tourism Corporation, Banff Life and ID9 – the municipal region surrounding the Town of Banff and including Lake Louise) have invested $149,000 in www.banff.ca. The funding is the result of a successful Municipal Sponsorship Grant provided by the provincial government in 2006.
