FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Banff Mayor lauds Harper’s Trans-Canada Twinning announcement
Banff, AB – Today, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced a $100 million investment to twin an additional 14 kilometers of the Trans-Canada Highway west of Castle Junction. This investment means drivers will benefit from the twinning of the entire roadway all the way to Lake Louise."This is great news," says Mayor of Banff, John Stutz. "I applaud the Prime Minister and his government for making the twinned highway a reality. We have been concerned about the safety of this stretch of highway, so this brings a big sense of relief to our community."
The Mayor is also grateful to Wildrose MP Myron Thompson who has worked with the Prime Minister to bring this critical infrastructure work to fruition. This is the largest one-time highway investment ever made in Banff National Park.
The Town of Banff is located in the heart of Banff National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We are home to over 8,700 residents and greet close to four million visitors each year.
