Banff, AB – Town of Banff Mayor John Stutz has been invited to attend the International Mayor's Forum on Tourism, April 10, 2008. Mayor Stutz, along with approximately 80 mayors from over 50 countries, will attend the Forum to be held in Zhengzhou, China.Six Canadian cities including Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, County of Leeds and Thousand Islands, Niagara Falls and Banff will be part of the delegation to discuss key issues affecting international tourism.
The theme is "Tourism - opportunity and challenge of city development." Mayor Stutz will share insight on the importance of maintaining the balance between tourism and development in a town set within a national park and world heritage site.
"The intent of the Forum is to share information," says Mayor Stutz.
"To have an opportunity like this, at the expense of our hosts in China, is wonderful for Banff's single industry. This Forum presents a great opportunity to profile Banff on a world stage and also serves as a platform to share concepts and experiences on developing and maintaining tourism."
