Banff Housing Corporation seeks input on price model for Peyto Place
BHC fills affordable housing gap by offering apartment/condo style units

Banff, AB -- The Banff Housing Corporation (BHC) has purchased ten apartment style housing units in Peyto Place (above Nesters) with the intent to provide a more diverse offering of value-priced housing in our community. Prior to introducing these units, the BHC is seeking resident input on a range of options they are considering regarding housing types and long-term housing costs.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to provide potential homeowners in Banff with apartment style housing options” says Stavros Karlos. “The BHC Board believes that price restricted models are an effective way to provide a measure of affordability over the long term, but we want to know what potential buyers and the community think.”

Monday, March 8, the BHC will post a 15-question survey on www.banff.ca and are encouraging residents to respond before March 24, 2010.

The BHC will introduce the Peyto Place units into the market within 12 months of their acquisition. They are hoping to hear from potential buyers who will share their preferences on the size and type of units that are most appealing, as well as general thoughts on a price restricted model and if that were considered, what annual fixed percentage increase would be appropriate.
In the spring of 2009 the BHC successfully introduced a price-restricted housing model through Middle Springs 2G.
