Quality of life in Banff even better, say residents

   
BANFF, AB... Life in Banff, the town-site within Banff National Park, is getting even better according to the results of a resident satisfaction survey presented by the Town of Banff today.

A large majority,  94 percent, of survey respondents rated their quality of life as good or very good, an increase of nearly five percent over the last survey conducted in 2007. They also ranked the overall service provided by the Town highly—87 percent selected good or very good, an increase of more than nine percent over 2007. Respondents who said they receive good or very good value for their municipal tax dollars increased over 2007 by 25 percent at 68 percent. In fact, the survey showed an upward trend in satisfaction levels for all service areas. 

The survey, conducted every three years by the Town in conjunction with the municipal election, is designed to determine satisfaction levels among the 8,721 permanent residents for services provided by local government and associated agencies, and help the incoming council shape priorities and financial plans.

“The survey provided valuable, and encouraging information,” said Banff Mayor Karen Sorensen. “Going forward into the new term, we are able to see where we should focus our attention, address the identified shortfalls and gain more insight into our residents’ concerns and wishes. We still have work to do, but we’re encouraged by the upward trend and the thoughtful feedback from citizens.”

The 2010 survey, held in October included a self-administered online survey and a paper survey mailed to all residents. More than 460 surveys were completed. Full survey results, and the prize winners, are available on the town’s website, www.banff.ca/survey.
