MAY 12, 2011 download pdf ( PDF - 56 kb)For Immediate Release
Banff, AB – Visitors, employees and residents will have an easier and more environmentally friendly way to reach the Banff Centre this summer.
Roam, the Town of Banff’s award-winning transit system, will be servicing the Banff Centre with a new route starting June 1, funded through a partnership with the Centre and support from the advertising revenue generated by Banff Lake Louise Tourism.
The first bus starts at 6:35 a.m. June 1, running every 40 minutes from the Inns of Banff, down Banff Avenue to Buffalo street, stopping at Surprise corner and the Eric Harvie theatre. The return journey is along the same route. Commuters will reach the Banff Centre in just a few minutes from downtown on Roam.
Visitors, employees and residents will have an easier and more environmentally friendly way to reach the Banff Centre this summer.
The fares are the same: $2 for adults and $1 for seniors and children, and unlimited day pass (all ages) for $5, all available on the bus. Roam monthly or three month passes or a book of 10 tokens can be purchased from Banff Town Hall, 110 Bear Street.
Roam features an all-hybrid bio-diesel/electric transit fleet, distinctively wrapped in authentic Banff National Park wildlife imagery, with back-country views of grizzlies, elk, goats and wolves. Interior advertising on all buses was resold by Banff Lake Louise Tourism to its members at discounted rates, providing excellent exposure for local businesses while generating revenue for the Town’s transit system, enabling the expanded service.
The energy-efficient fleet reduces emissions as well as fuel and life cycle costs and features real time GPS information at bus stops, the latest technology in fare boxes, and integrated trip planning to encourage use.
