Outdoor rink now open at recreation centre
BANFF, AB - Ice skating fans in the town of Banff have an additional place to lace up their skates this winter. The outdoor rink at the new recreational centre in Banff on Norquay Road is now open and, best of all, is free.
The outdoor surface, built in the new facility’s meadow-like courtyard, is open during regular hours of the recreation centre. The 50 x 145 ft rink is for leisure skating only – no hockey sticks, pucks or nets – and is accessed through the centre’s concourse.
Skate rentals are available from the centre while the admissions desk is open (see schedule below) for $4.50 for adults and $3.50 for children. Several other outlets in Banff also offer rentals. Of course, users are welcome to warm themselves and purchase a hot chocolate inside Banff’s stunning new community facility, which itself opened in November 2010.
For more information, call the recreation centre at 403.762.1235, or check banff.ca >Activities & Events > Winter > Ice Skating.
