SI Swimsuit Issue In Banff
For Immediate ReleaseFebruary 15, 2011
Beauty abounds in Banff National Park, setting for the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue
Banff, Alberta, Canada – Captured on film by millions of visitors over the past 125 years, the spectacular beauty of Banff National Park has rarely been more captivating than this. The 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, out this week and arguable the most famous magazine issue in the world, features Canada’s first national park and the Town of Banff as the stunning backdrop for photographs of equally beautiful world-class athletes.
Brazilian surfer Bruna Schmitz, American volleyball player Kim Glass and Paraguayan javelin thrower Leryn Franco dazzle among the dramatic, snow-capped peaks and jewel-toned lakes and streams of the Rocky Mountains.
“Alberta’s Canadian Rocky Mountains are world renowned for breathtaking landscapes,” said Bruce Okabe, CEO, Travel Alberta. “This year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue makes our vistas even more beautiful and alluring to visitors.”
“Banff National Park is clearly one of the most spectacular destinations in the world,” says Julie Canning, president and CEO of Banff Lake Louise Tourism. “We are thrilled that one of the world’s most widely read and highly anticipated publications selected our backyard to showcase some other natural beauties.”
