Council Minutes
Highlights from the
November 9, 2009
regular meeting include:
Housing Incentive Purchase Program
Modeled on a successful program used by Banff Caribou Properties, the Housing Incentive Purchase Program will help Town employees to enter the housing market in Banff.
This program is meant to cut down on the number of employees who leave the organization for other communities where housing is more affordable. The HIP program will:
Provide an interest-free loan of up to $30,000 to employees purchasing their first home in Banff
Provide for the loan to be registered on title as a second mortgage and repaid in full at the end of ten year.
Be available only to employees residing in the unit full-time.

Outdoor Rink
Council had a look at a number of options for construction of an outdoor rink. They discussed temporary locations that could be used during the
recreation centre reconstruction
, and permanent locations close to the downtown core.
Recognizing that there is no funding in the current budget for construction and maintenance of an outdoor rink, Council asked staff to find out the costs of maintaining a skating surface on the Bow River for the 2009/2010 winter season. They will reconsider all options again in the fall of 2010.
