Candidate Information
Before you can run for council, you need to be nominated. There are three steps to the nomination process:
Determine if you are eligible
Complete a Nomination Paper
Submit your Nomination Paper on Nomination Day
Eligibility
To become a candidate, you must:
Be at least 18 years of age on nomination day
Be a Canadian citizen
Have lived in Banff for the six months preceding nomination day
You are not qualified to run if you:
Are an employee of the Town of Banff (unless you are granted a leave of absence)
Are an auditor of the Town of Banff
Are more than $50 in arrears on your property taxes, or you are more than 90 days in default of any debt to the Town of Banff in excess of $500
Have been convicted of an offence under the Local Authorities Election Act, the Elections Act, or the Canada Elections Act within the last 10 years.
Nomination Paper
Your nomination for office must be filed on an approved nomination paper. The nomination paper is available at Town Hall, or can be downloaded at:

Nomination Day
Nomination Day is Monday, September 20, 2010 between 10 a.m. and noon at Banff Town Hall.
Nomination papers will only be accepted between these times and at this location.
Nomination papers may be personally delivered by the candidate or by another person on behalf of the candidate. There are no exceptions.
There is no fee for submitting nomination papers
