As Mayor, Karen wishes to continue to enhance the residential and visitor experience in Banff. "My goal is to build on Banff's success as a great place to live and wonderful place to visit," she says.
Karen is a proud ambassador for Banff and sees being Mayor as a fabulous opportunity that she embraces with pride.

Mayor Sorensen has served on council since October 2004. She was elected to her first term as Mayor in October 2010.Current Appointments

Karen graduated from University of Guelph and has worked for over 30 years in the hospitality industry in public relations and sales, predominately in Banff. In 2000, Karen started her own company, Catalyst Enterprises Consulting, providing customer service training within the hospitality industry.Currently, in addition to her Mayoral duties, Karen works with her husband, Carsten, in their business, CBC Financial Directions.
Family/Personal Interests
Karen is proud to call Banff home. She and Carsten have been married for 22 years and have raised their two sons, Eric and Connor, here. Their oldest son Bjerre, is married and lives in California with his wife and three children.
