Why a priority?
The Banff Community Plan outlines the community's shared vision and sets out goals in three key areas:- Sense of Place
- A Healthy Community
- Local Economy
Under each goal, you will find a series of strategic objectives we can use to achieve the goals. Every fall, Council decides which of these objectives will be the top priority for the following year. The base their decisions on:
- assessed need
- fiscal capacity
- community measures
- resident feedback
The effectiveness of Council priorities is reflected in the Community Measures Report.
What about the budget?
Council uses their annual priorities as direction as they review and approve the yearly operating budget and the 10-year capital plan.Annual priorities are also the basis, along with the Service Review, for every department's annual workplan.
Priority Updates
Council reviews progress on their priorities at each Council meeting. You'll find updates posted regularly on each priority page.
