Supporting the Competitive Intiative

In 2011, leaders from Parks Canada, the Town of Banff, tourism, business and the community met to address changing trends in tourism. The result was the Competitive Initiative.  The Competitive Initiative is a plan to encourage more people to visit Banff this winter, and to make sure our visitors enjoy an outstanding experience.

The Town of Banff will help coordinate special events, like Snow Days 2012. We will also keep looking for ways to improve the visitor experience throughout the town.

Community Plan Goals

• Create memorable national park experiences
• Showcase Banff as a leader in hospitality and environmental practices

Actions

• Expand the Town's role in visitor experience and special event coordination.

Progress Update

• The visitor experience position at the Town will be expanded from part-time to full-time in 2012.
• The Town has built an outdoor skating rink at the Banff High School to help celebrate Snow Days.
