Banff's urban trees perform many functions. Their presence increases real estate values, reduces the risk of wildfire, and enhances the experience of our visitors. They even help keep the air clean as they absorb carbon dioxide and other pollutants and produce oxygen.
We started a program to care for our urban trees in 2009. This year council has a renewed focus on urban forest management, and will encourage full implementation of the Urban Forest Management Plan.
