Town of Banff GIS (geographic information systems) maintains and updates dozens of layers of geographic information representing our municipal assets.
These assets include roads, infrastructure, social assets, parcels and buildings among others.
Our GIS service has also developed an asset management program. Our asset management coordinator uses GIS technology to ensure that the Town of Banff is able to track, maintain and upgrade its assets as efficiently as possible. We publish our GIS information digitally in map formats so that it can be used and understood easily by all Town of Banff departments, as well as by our community and visitors. This information improves our municipal services by helping staff to integrate data from many sources, to visualize our data, and ultimately to make better decisions.GIS publishes frequently requested maps, and we make them available at a reasonable cost. We will also design custom maps at an hourly rate. Visit our map gallery for examples of maps that are available. The GIS Department has recently created several interactive maps for our community and visitors to utilize. Make sure you try out our new viewers displaying accommodations, attractions, restaurants, hiking trails, and parking and recycling locations.
