Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commision (AADAC)
The services of Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commision (AADAC) are confidential and free of charge. Admission is voluntary.
Counseling Services
Individual,
group, and family counseling are available as well as specialized
services for adolescents. Clients are encouraged to seek ongoing
support from self-help groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics
Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, Al-Anon, and a wide range of others. Counseling Services
Information and Prevention Services
Through
a variety of programs, prevention services strive to increase
understanding and awareness of alcohol, tobacco, other drug-related
issues, and problem gambling. Strategies focus on increasing an individual's ability to successfully handle life situations in partnership with local groups, agencies, schools, and employers. AADAC provides support to projects aimed at mobilizing communities to prevent and address alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and gambling issues.
Training and consultation are provided to professionals working with people who experience problems with alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and gambling (fees for training may apply).
Educational materials, such as pamphlets, books, and videos, are available to the public. These resources address a wide range of topics relating to the prevention and treatment of alcohol, tobacco, drug, and gambling problems.
Program packages on a variety of topics are produced by AADAC to assist schools, agencies, employers, and other groups in the prevention and treatment of alcohol, tobacco, drug, and gambling problems.
