Bow Valley Regional Housing
There are several different programs available for subsidized housing for families with low income in the Bow Valley. Please read the eligibility requirements, and note if the program is available in both Banff and Canmore.Direct Rent Supplement - Banff and Canmore
Bow Valley Regional Housing provides
households with up to $600 per month to offset the difference a
household’s rent and an amount equal to 30% of their gross income.Residency Requirements: Applicants must fall into one of the following groups.
• Canadian citizen
• Permanent Resident of Canada
• Refugees sponsored by the Government of Canada
Income Requirements: To be eligible for community housing, the applicant must have a gross household income below certain income limits.
Asset Requirements: To be eligible for community housing, the applicant must have assets of less than $4,000.
There are several other requirements relevant to health, accommodation, special circumstances, etc. Applicants must have a current residential lease when applying.

Community Housing - Canmore only
Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for community housing, the applicant must have lived in the Bow Valley for at least the past six months, and must also have at least partial custody of a minor child or a full-time student. As well, the applicant must be unable to acquire or maintain adequate or suitable accommodation.
Residency Requirements: Applicants must fall into one of the following groups.
• Canadian citizen
• Permanent Resident of Canada
• Refugees sponsored by the Government of Canada
Income Requirements: To be eligible for community housing, the applicant must have a gross household income below the Provincially regulated “core need income threshold”.
Asset Requirements: To be eligible for community housing, the applicant must have assets of less than $4,000.

Housing for Seniors - Banff and Canmore
Bow Valley Regional Housing operates housing for seniors 65+ (55+ for individuals with a physical disability may be considered, but

• Bow River Homes, 920-13 Street, Canmore, AB
• Mount Edith House, 90 Moose Street, Banff, AB
Mount Edith House provides 34 one-bedroom apartments for seniors 65+. Tenants must have the need to reside in Banff and be able to live independently. Alberta Provincial Government subsidizes rents, tenants pay 30% of their gross income.
Seniors Lodges:
• Bow River Lodge, 920-13 Street, Canmore, AB
• Cascade House, 227 Beaver Street, Banff, AB
Cascade House is a 10 bedroom supportive living facility. Cascade House offers meals, housekeeping, laundry service and has 24 hour staffing.
