Getting Around
The Banff townsite is small and easy to navigate. Having no vehicle in Banff is not a problem, many people here don't use cars at all. To get around, most of us walk or take the
Roam Bus
that stops at designated stops all over town. The Roam Bus costs $2.00. This local bus system offers one of the best, most convenient, environmentally friendly deals in town.
The ski hills are out of town and you do need transport to get to them, but don’t fret! There are skier buses that will take you to Norquay, Lake Louise and Sunshine all season long. They cost about $10 one way or you can get a bus pass for the season. Prices vary season to season.
The truth about hitchhiking:
A lot of people hitch up to the hills and seem to get picked up fairly easy. Snowboarders and
skiers without wheels line up for rides along the highway. If you have decided you are going to
hitchhike and disregard the risks then take some precautions. Always have a friend with you!
Don’t get into a vehicle where there are more people in the car than you and your friend
Never stand close enough to the car that they can pull you into it
Hold up a sign saying where you are going i.e. Sunshine Ski Hill / Lake Louise / Norquay
If you are hoping to get out of Town and check out the surrounding areas in Banff, there are many different buses and schedules that can get you to your destination comfortably and at an affordable price.
If you are looking for a great way to get to the airport, the
Banff Airporter
provides door-to-door airport transportation service within the Bow Valley, Lake Louise, Banff and Canmore.
Taxi service is also available.
