Road Restrictions

2021 Spring Road Ban – Notice of Weight Restrictions 

Signs will be posted showing restrictions to axle weights. The ban is dependent on weather and ground conditions. Vehicles such as concrete pump trucks, cranes, heavy equipment haulers and other such vehicles may apply for overweight load permits to travel. 

To protect roadway pavement, load restrictions of 75 percent of legal axle weight will be in effect on the following roads beginning March 30, 2021:

  • All Roads within the Town of Banff 
  • Banff Avenue entrance to Town of Banff 
  • Norquay Road entrance to Town of Banff 
  • Golf Course Road 
  • Minnewanka Loop 
  • Norquay Ski Area road 
  • Sulphur Mountain Road 
  • Sunshine Road 
  • Tunnel Mountain Road

Restrictions will be lifted in May 2021.
