Youth Summer Camps

high ropes photoOur Youth Camps are made for you to get out, get dirty and play hard! Enjoy activities such as kayaking, backpacking, paintball and more!

Weekly Programs:

Go Big or Go Home July 4-8
Grades 7-10
Get amped for a week of exploration and excitement. From outdoor adventures to paintball, ending in an overnight campout and surprise trip- you won’t be disappointed!
Location: Drop off & pick up at Banff Elementary School

Go Backcountry July 18-22
Grades 7-10
The mountains are calling and we must go! During this four-night trip, youth will learn the skills and gear needed to explore on foot and camp overnight.  Heading into the stunning area of Assiniboine Provincial Park- this trip is not to be missed!

 Leader In Training (L.I.T) 
 
Grades 9-11
Aug. 2-5 Training component 10am-3pm
Aug.8-12 Volunteer placement component 9am-4pm
Are you ready to lead? Join the Bow Valley Family Resource Network (BVFRN) and Summer Fun team for this two-week leadership development program. Learn what it takes to program plan, problem solve and work with children on their level. Find your own leadership style in our week of training - then practice your skills as a volunteer leader with the Summer Fun day camp program. All L.I.T. participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the program. 
Note- participants must attend both weeks of the program to receive their certificate 
Location: Week One -Fenlands Recreation Centre, Week Two- Banff Elementary School 
All Bow Valley Family Resource Network programs are free of cost
 

Go Paddle August 15-19
Grades 8-10
Throw on your splash top and prepare for a week on the water! With the support of professional coaches from the Bow Valley Kayak Club, participants will learn about kayaking equipment; access, navigation and maneuvering of waterways, safe kayak exits and working towards running our first ever rapids! Pre-requisite: Although strong swimming is not necessary, participants must feel confident in deep water. Learning how to be upside-down in a kayak is essential in preparing for river-running. For insurance purposes all registrants must obtain a membership with the Bow Valley Kayak Club. Camp fees have been reduced to accommodate the membership fee.

Camp Hours 

Monday – Friday, 9a.m. – 4p.m. (hours may fluctuate depending on activities) 

Registration

Registration will open on May 4 at 8:30a.m. for residents of Banff and on May 11, at 8:30a.m. for non-residents of Banff, with the exception of the Leader In Training (L.I.T.) program. The L.I.T. program is open to everyone for registration commencing May 4th. 

Before you register: 

  • Please visit www.banff.ca/register and create an account for your family. 
  • Complete the necessary forms for your youth:
    Program Waiver (PDF)
    Medication Form (PDF)- only if your child will be bringing medication to the program
  • Decide which dates you will need for each youth you are registering
  • Have an emergency contact name and phone number, other than the youth’s primary caregivers, ready to provide. 

To register:

  • When registration is open to you, please send a registration request to community.services@banff.ca
  • Include in your request:
    Your name
    Children’s names
    One or two phone numbers we can reach you during the daytime on weekdays
  • A Client Services team member will contact you to respond to your request as soon as possible

Registration requests will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Registration requests are not a confirmed registration. Registrations will be confirmed by Client Services once your waiver has been submitted, your registration is processed and receipt received.

Please read the Caregiver Handbook before the first day of program.
