    Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 is a must for everyone heading into the backcountry. Learn about avalanche formation and release, how to identify avalanche terrain, the basics of trip planning, how to use avalanche for ecasts, travel techniques in avalanche terrain and an intro to companion rescue. This course requires an intermediate level skiing or snowboarding ability. For ages 30+.

In AST Level 2 you will learn progressive planning and travel techniques required to travel safely through various types of terrain, how to use the Danger Rating on a local scale, how to apply the Avalanche Terrain Exposure Scale model to develop terrain ratings and proficiently carry out a companion rescue.
