The Town of Banff has cancelled all Town-organized programs, courses, and events that gather members of the public, in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The measure is part of the Town’s focus on maintaining essential services and to follow health advice for employees and the public.
The cancellation is for Town events and activities that have been scheduled to occur within the next 60 days, and includes cancelling the public gallery for Council and Committee meetings. Council meetings are planned to continue at this time, but public participation will be enabled online.
Town Hall will remain open for services to the community, at this time. Public washrooms operated by the Town will remain open in the community, as they provide key infrastructure to assist with public health practices.
Community Measures Encouraged
The Town of Banff strongly encourages all organizations in Banff to follow the measures identified by Alberta Health to cancel gatherings of more than 250 people or gatherings of more than 50 attendees that involve international participants, seniors, or other high-risk populations.
For St. Patrick’s Day, the Town is asking all businesses to cancel St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
Also to continue efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, the Town urges everyone in Banff to follow the practices identified by Alberta Health, such as staying home if sick, covering coughs and sneezes, washing hands often and well, and cleaning personal and work areas.
