The Town of Banff and the Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) has added another channel to provide critical information to the community.
“During this uncertain time, there is ever-changing information bombarding us about COVID-19 – and some of it just not reliable,” said Chief Silvio Adamo, Director of Emergency Management for Banff. “The health and safety of our community is our top priority so we have added another way people can get important, up-to-date information about our community.”
The Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) has been working closely with Alberta Health Services, all local agencies, and the governments of Alberta and Canada to ensure meaningful action is taken for Banff residents and businesses, and is committed to providing accurate and up-to-date information to everyone.
Banff has three main web sections that are updated throughout each day:
Now, regular video updates with Mayor Karen Sorensen and Chief Adamo will add another medium for updates to the community.
“With a diverse population that includes people with many different language backgrounds, Banff will use video to help reach residents who find spoken communications more accessible than information on websites,” said Adamo. “As the situation continues to be fluid, it is important for everyone to have clear information, understand the actions being taken, and how to do their part in stopping the spread.”
The Mayor’s first video update on April 6 reminded residents about the latest health protocols and the Help Team available to assist any individual with access to EI, other aid, or referrals to critical support services.
The next video update will be released April 9. Videos can be viewed on the Town of Banff’s Facebook and Instagram channels and online at banff.ca/updatesECC.
