New program replaces Parent Link for Banff parents

Family Resource Network

Town of Banff received provincial funding from Alberta Children’s Services to provide programs and services as part of the Bow Valley’s Family Resource Network. This new funding replaces former funding for Bow Valley Parent Link and other early intervention/prevention programs.

Family Resource Networks deliver early intervention and prevention services for families with children aged 0 – 18. The Town of Banff’s services will focus on caregiver capacity-building and education, primarily for children in early years. The funding will also support the coordination of social connection and well-being activities for families.

“We will open the play space at the 101 Bear Street facility for Family Resource Network programs, once it is safe to do so, and COVID-19 restrictions have been amended to allow for gatherings and staff are trained in safety protocols,” said Shawn Carr, Manager of Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and Social Programs for the Town of Banff. “Until then, we will offer all programs and services by phone, email and online.”

Families requesting support are invited to email familyconnections@banff.ca or call 403.762.1124. People interested in signing up to receive monthly information about programs, services and any updates about the opening of the play space at 101 Bear Street, should also email familyconnections@banff.ca.

The website banff.ca/FamilyResourceNetwork will be updated with program details on Banff Family Resource Network programming and services. More information will be added to the site regarding online programming available to parents and caregivers during the pandemic.
