Starting on Friday afternoon, the 100 and 200 blocks of Banff Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction in order to provide more space for pedestrians to maintain 2 metres distance from other individuals not from their household.
Although the Town of Banff has advertised in Calgary encouraging people to avoid visiting Banff this long weekend, it is likely many people in Alberta will still choose to visit. The precautionary measure is also a trial for plans to close Banff Avenue next month to all vehicle traffic.
