Highway

Highway status has not changed. The Trans-Canada Highway remains closed in both directions to private vehicles between Banff and Canmore UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE for the safety of the public, emergency responders and highway workers. Only emergency (police, fire, ambulance, wardens, utilities, highways), the Roam bus and airport shuttle are allowed on the highway between Canmore and Banff. Parks Canada and our partners are working diligently to reopen the highway to the general public as soon as possible.

If you need to travel to the airport, contact Brewsters or Banff Airporter. Travellers between Banff and Canmore must use Roam public transit. No personal vehicles are permitted on the highway whatsoever for any reason.

Commercial vehicle operators of essential food supplies and emergency services should contact the Banff or Canmore agencies they are supplying for more information.
